During the EUROLAG (EUROPEAN COASTAL LAGOONS) Symposium, held from 1 to 4 March 2016 in Murcia, Spain, the BONUS BaltCoast workshop on “Integrated Coastal Zone Management – New Tools and Approaches” was organized. Based on an introduction into the Systems Approach Framework (SAF), a tool assessing coastal systems under consideration of different human activities, ecosystems capacity and environmental forcing, current aspects and results of the project work were presented. Focus was mainly on indicator application, re-analysis of best practices on ICM cases around the Baltic and the involvement of stakeholders into coastal processes. Moreover, all six case study sites presented their coastal issues and approaches in posters.
BONUS BaltCoast has received funding from BONUS (Art 185), funded jointly from the European Union’s Seventh Programme for research, technological development and demonstration, and from Baltic Sea national funding institutions. In October, the project will present further results within the LITTORAL conference in Biarritz, France.
