Storms highlighted need to tackle coastal erosion threat

THE fierce storms that have battered Cornwall’s coastline this winter have reinforced the need for adaptation and planning. The likelihood of increased extremes of weather has been forecast for some years but the suddenness and ferocity of this winter has still come as a surprise. With the possibility of even more extreme weather events to come in future years, we are likely to see a speeding- up of the rate of change on the coast.
