MARELITT is an EU funded project that aims to study existing marine litter removal, and derelict fishing gear retrieval projects, within the EU. Our objective is to define good practices that can be applied to existing or new projects in each of Europe’s four regional seas, the Baltic sea, Black sea, Mediterranean and North East Atlantic. More information can be found on our website www.marelitt.eu
From January 2014, MARELITT will initiate self-sustaining marine litter removal or derelict fishing gears retrieval projects. To this end we are looking for organisations, principally those located in EU Member States, who would be willing to get involved either as host organisations – leading a project – or project partners – providing equipment, services or financing.
What can MARELITT offer?
For the organisations that get involved, MARELITT can offer technical support to initiate new projects or maintain existing ones, for example through training workshops that will be organised in Brussels and in each of the four sea regions in the course of 2014. The costs of the technical support will be borne by MARELITT. Host and partner organisations will also receive full acknowledgement.
MARELITT cannot provide financing to marine litter removal projects. However, it will support the identification of potential regional, national, European and international sources of financing that a project might apply for.
If you are interested in becoming a host or partner organisation, please complete the Expression of Interest form or you can contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. Closing date for receipt of Expression of Interest forms is 31 December, 2013.
