15 November 2013 in Vilnius, Lithuania.
The workshop will be chaired by Andrew Lipsky, Director of Science and Policy at SeaPlan and former Ocean Policy Advisor at The White House.
Focusing on Europe’s different sea basins, it will address the benefits and challenges of fisheries integration into maritime spatial planning – first to facilitate their co-management with competing activities, but also to regulate internal competition within the sector for sea areas and fishing grounds. The workshop will also focus on MSP as a tool to address the challenges faced by EU marine aquaculture in terms of access to space, licensing, cumulative effects and sustainability.
The workshop will aim at providing recommendations to the Commission for the sometimes limited coverage of fisheries/aquacultures activities in MSP.
