The Ocean Sampling Day (OSD) will take place on the longest day in the northern hemisphere in 2014, the summer solstice on June 21st. On this day, more than 100 science teams all around the world will take water samples from the ocean in order to identify the tiniest organisms in it – the microbes.
The outcome of this global effort will be nothing less than the biggest data set in marine research that has been taken on a single day. This vast open-access data set will be incredibly valuable for the marine scientists. It will be the starting point leading to a revolution in marine microbial ecology. Be part of this unique event and help researchers to fight great global problems like climate change. Find more information on www.my-osd.org
