Farewell to Alan Pickaver, EUCC’s International Programme Project Coordinator

The EUCC Team regrets to announce that our devoted colleague Alan Pickaver is leaving EUCC to enjoy his retirement. It has been extremely pleasant and rewarding to have worked with Alan since 17 years ago, when he started as EUCC’s Head Policy and Projects and Secretariat of EAF. Alan has been dedicated largely to the field of Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) – particularly in developing an ICZM Indicator Set to measure the Progress in the Implementation of  ICZM for the European Union, and more recently to the management of the Interreg IVC project SUSTAIN and therein developing a scoring methodology based on indicators to enable progress in sustainability to be measured.

Alan has done plenty of fundraising, designed and steered the set-up and management of many projects of major inter-regional cooperation initiatives such as SUSTAIN and CoPraNet, lead work packages and initiatives such as OURCOAST, IMCORE, COREPOINT, was EUCC representative in the EU ICZM Expert group, and in the OSPAR and HELCOM Conventions, and has played a role in ICZM projects throughout Europe from the North West Europe (IMCORE and COREPOINT projects), to the Mediterranean region (LitusGo), to name a few.

With pain in our hearts we are thankful for all the good work and memories and wish our dear colleague and friend the best relaxing and enjoyable retirement !
