Dutch beach visitors are invited to take part in this contest by taking photographs about marine and coastal litter in the Netherland or on their holiday, as part of the European MARLISCO project. The best 15 pictures will be displayed in an exhibition about marine litter in the city hall of The Hague in October and next year the exhibition will travel further on in the Netherlands. Furthermore, a winner picture will enjoy a surf-experience at the Dutch coast. This exhibition aims at raising awareness about marine litter problem for the citizens of The Hague and beyond.
The enormous amount of litter in the oceans is becoming a growing problem for humans and marine organisms. The Dutch branch of the Coastal & Marine Union – EUCC (Vereniging Kust & Zee) and the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment are campaigning for a healthy sea and a litter-free sea.
